Ok, this one is totally open (as if the Sass the Bard thraed wasn't) for anyone to posts poems...this kind of makes Sass the Bard obsolete, because I'm going to start posting here.
So get creative and get rhyming (or not, who cares?)

Rebirth
My conscience whispers to me
Tells me it's the only way
To discover if I have truly changed
If I am willing to let go
Or if within these walls I'll stay
My dreams speak to me
Tell me truths I pass as lies
Shall I be governed by these memories?
Shall I be paralyzed by uncertainty?
Will no beauty capture these eyes
My heart has betrayed me
And I doubt I can trust it again
Unless fate proves to be wiser
Unless time proves to be stronger
What will I be left with then?
My eyes can tell a story
Of every shiver through my spine
How the past was mine to blame
How my patience couldn't hold
And I melted into the lines
My will has returned to me
A new bravery can be shown
Now again willing to risk it all
Now again ready to jump in
And give this love I call my own

Heart of the Woods
I've hidden myself under this rusty canopy
The weight of the branches hold me down
I weaved them together in a fury long ago
Tore the roots from the frozen ground
Lashed together the oaks and the pines
That was then, when the leaves were bold
And the wood sang along with the wind
Before the centerpiece sagged down from the rain
When the dust from the desert blew in
Battering the weathered old signs
Now the ground heaves as heaven crashes down
Pitting its wrath up against me
My bones rattle as the forest rolls like waves
The lines of my vision melt to green
And the minutes fade from time
I clutch a solid and mossy stone
Though my body feels less than enduring
My eyes snap close as the stone is torn free
Yet the voice in its core is alluring
That voice is all but mine
The air falls silent, my heart races faster
I take in what is left of my prison
The smothering vines give way to clear skies
Lighting the freedom I'm given
Opening the eyes once held blind
I wander through the arching boughs
Stumble into this world I mistrusted
Dragging a security of branches behind me
To protect me until I'm adjusted

From The Depths of Midnight
It's just another dream
Shuffled between the kings and queens
The broken hearts and uncut diamonds
That I know you haven't seen
It's the tail of a fading star
But with it's death is born new promise
A stream of gold and glitterdust
To keep my skyward eye honest

But to me it's the end of the rainbow

Wishing For Velvet
I sit and unravel the tapestry
That I spun in a lost lullaby
Out of thread that still held its color
I try to remember the majesty
Each fiber just another goodbye
That seems no different from the others
It all seems such a tragedy
For the cloth to finally die
And leave my innocence uncovered
But it was stained by such pageantry
Born of a shameful sunrise
That shone on the fool and the lover
Maybe it's my false sense of gallantry
A riddle in a clever disguise
Making my tired body shudder
But the pain woven into this tapestry
Will not haunt my sleepless nights
For it surely belongs to another
